EDM

Wire EDM machining, an electro thermal production process utilising a thin single strand metal wire (usually brass) in conjunction with de-ionised water (as a conductor) allowing the wire to cut through metal by the use of heat from electrical sparks (Electro Discharge Machining). Due to the inherent properties of the process it is possible to produce complex parts and precision components from hard conductive materials.

Our Charmilles wire cut, spark erosion and fast hole drilling machines provide the capability to cut odd-shaped angles, detailed contours and cavities in materials ranging from hardened steel to exotic metals, titanium, hastelloy, kovar, inconel and carbide.
